Pre-op Instructions for Placement of Fiducial Markers and/or Space Oar

Nothing to eat or drink after 10pm the night before surgery.
o This includes water, gum, candy, mints, etc. Nothing by mouth. -
You will need a driver to bring you and take you home after the procedure.

You will need to do a Fleets Enema 2 hours prior to your arrival time. Please refer to instructions from Dr. Gorla’s office regarding bowel prep.
- Bring the other medications that were ordered by Dr. Gorla with you to the surgery center. These will be given to you at the surgery center.

If you take medications for heart, lungs, seizures, high blood pressure or acid reflux please take those in the morning with a small sip of water. If you take them at night, take them as usual.

If you are DIABETIC:
o Take half of your normal dose of diabetic medication at night and NO diabetic medication on the morning of surgery.
▪ Example: If you take 10 units of insulin…only take 5 units.
▪ If you take oral medication cut your dose in half. -
You may brush your teeth but, do not swallow the water.

No lotions or perfumes. Deodorant is ok.

Please bring a list of current medications.

Leave all jewelry and valuables at home.

Dress comfortably. No tight-fitting clothing.
