Ray’s health issues were so intense at the time that outside doctors were confusing and overshooting timelines for his life expectancy.
That’s why Ray was appreciative with the open dialogue he had with Dr. Cartmell at CBCC. “He was so straightforward. I told him that I had 1.5 years to live… he told me this is not a small tumor Ray, we need to act fast.”
Getting Through Treatment
Ray’s treatment course was extensive as his situation required surgeries, radiation, and chemo. Still, he went through it all with little to no obstacles.
“I was adamant about going back to work and Dr. Cartmell could see my anguish. He stayed grounded and composed and talked me through it. That’s the type of empathy and compassion that exists at CBCC.”
Getting Back to Life
Mr. Scott attributes his revival to God and to the CBCC physicians. “It’s super important to have the right doctor. I should have died nearly four times, but together we took care of it.”
He has been with us beyond his recovery, for 25 years, paying it back by volunteering at events such as ‘Campout Against Cancer’, and ‘Relay for Life.’
Additionally, Ray has launched an e-book about his cancer journey, and is in the process of finishing another one. You can learn more from him in the link here: https://ordinarymanextraordinarygod.com
