When she arrived at CBCC, she received an immediate feeling of warmth and sincerity from the doctors and staff. Little did she know, at the time, how present CBCC would be in her life.
Getting Through Treatment
Joan was nervous to begin chemotherapy but put her faith in the hands of CBCC, totally compliant to the health guidance provided. She didn’t lose her hair but put on a little bit of weight, and most importantly, managed to keep working throughout the process.
She had to return to CBCC in 2017 after removing a lump from her right breast. Her course of action at that point, included six weeks of daily radiation therapy.
Getting Back to Life
While Joan was recovering from breast cancer, her husband, Stuart was diagnosed with prostate cancer which was also taken care of at CBCC.
“You can say that CBCC has been in our family for quite a while, and we’re blessed to have been a part of this wonderful organization. Bakersfield should be thankful for CBCC. All the doctors and staff are so amazing.”
To show her appreciation Joan joined the CBCC Hugs Volunteer Group in 2017, and came in once a week to welcome and support our patients. “I still go to CBCC to volunteer. It’s like going home, to the people who dedicate their lives to your well-being.”
