Shawn Shambaugh, MD

Medical Oncology & Hematology

Dr. Shawn Shambaugh completed his Residency at Harrisburg Hospital in Pennsylvania after graduating from the University of the Caribbean, West Indies. He earned his fellow in Hematology & Oncology at Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in Pennsylvania. Upon joining the team at Comprehensive Blood & Cancer Center (CBCC) in 1993, he has aided in the development and growth of this clinic as a Medical Oncologist and the Laboratory Director. Alongside the physician staff at CBCC, their combined experience has transformed cancer care available to patients in the Kern County Community. He specializes in all types of cancer.

During Dr. Shambaugh’s career he practiced in a variety of fields and sat on a number of boards in our community. He has been president of the Kern County Medical Society, served on the Board of Directors at San Joaquin Hospital and has been Chairman of the Cancer Committee for both Dignity Health Mercy and Memorial Hospitals. He has also been recognized as Physician of the Year by Dignity Health Mercy & Memorial Hospital He is also a member of the Kern County Medical Society, American College of Physicians, Medical Oncology Association of Southern California, and the Association of Northern California Oncologist.

Dr. Shambaugh has been Principal Investigator on a number of research trials and is published in leading peer journals. In addition to sitting on medical boards and societies, Dr. Shambaugh also is a Houchin Community Blood Bank board member and a member of the Rotary Club of Bakersfield.
