Kota Shekar, MD

Medical Oncology & Hematology

Dr. Kota Shekar is triple board-certified in medical oncology, hematology, and internal medicine and has over three decades of experience diagnosing, treating, and caring for cancer patients. Dr. Shekar completed his medical degree at Osmania University in Hyderabad, India before moving to the United States where he continued his residency at the Veterans’ Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota and a fellowship at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, California.

In 2008, Dr. Shekar joined the CBCC team working between its Templeton office and main-campus for over 10-years. From there, he and his wife moved to the small town of Porterville where he practiced oncology and hematology at the Roger S. Good Cancer Treatment Center. In 2024, Dr. Shekar rejoined CBCC at its Bakersfield office where he brings extensive expertise to patients facing cancer and other blood disorders.

Dr. Shekar values the comprehensive array of services offered under one roof at CBCC, and is committed to providing the highest standard of individualized whole-person care for his patients and their families.

Dr. Shekar is a proud father to his daughter Haripriya, who follows in his footsteps serving as resident physician at Einstein Hospital in Philadelphia. Outside of the clinic, Dr. Shekar enjoys traveling and spending time with family.
